Be the best version of you.

Life stressors including systemic oppression, trauma, and even internal thoughts can lead us to feel stuck from being our best selves. I work with individuals, groups, and other professionals to create a safe space for mental health care.

ABOUT

Jennifer Larson, LMHC

We all have the capacity to heal and feel sustained peace.

Do you ever feel like there is something holding you back from being the best version of yourself? Life stressors from family conflict, systemic oppression, trauma, even internal thoughts can lead us to feel stuck from being our best selves.

My work centers around making sure clients of all cultural backgrounds have a safe and supportive space to heal and process thoughts and feelings. My work has included individual therapy in both agency and private practice settings, supervising new clinicians of color, as well as being a cultural consultant to mainstream agencies needing support in providing competent care.

My years of experience working in underserved spaces and bearing witness to the stories of oppressed individuals have provided a working knowledge of how racism, systemic and otherwise plays a major role in the landscape of our suffering. We internalize mainstream beliefs and forget that we are living in a crooked home and self-critique when we struggle to stand straight. I am active in communities, networks, and the education of anti-racism in my commitment to be ever-growing.

Why Paper Crane?

A paper crane is a Japanese symbol of “hope” and “healing”.

The symbolism of the paper crane was popularized after the telling of the story of Sadako Sasaki who was exposed to radiation after the Hiroshima bombing as a 2 year old and by the time she was 12 had developed leukemia. With a goal of 1,000, she began to fold paper cranes with hopes they would heal her. While she passed away before meeting her goal, her community completed the task. For Sadako the process of each fold was a meditation on her wishes for world peace. They provided her hope and healed her soul as she faced her illness with bravery.

Healing does not always happen quickly, but with each fold, with each breath, with each moment we spend with specific intention, we can be filled with hope to move us toward our healing.
